Kunena is a relatively new project, a fork of the project FireBoard, now abandoned by its original developers.

To collaborate in the development of Kunena there is a new team, formed by some developers and some FireBoard Joomla Core Developers.

The migration from 1.0.x to Kunena is painless, just uninstall FireBoard and install  Kunena to be operational. Compatible with Joomla 1.0 and 1.5 in legacy mode, it is not yet provide a native version for Joomla 1.5 but is scheduled to brief the issue of an upgrade of this type.
